Sustainability Indices

In September 2010, ERG joined the "Benchmark" index and the "Leaders" index of the new FTSE ECPI Italia index series.

The Sustainability Indices include the mid- and large-cap companies of the FTSE Italia All-Share index (members of the FTSE MIB and FTSE Italia Mid Cap index) which stand out because of their sustainable behaviour and practices.

In fact, the ability to deal with ESG themes (Environmental, Social and Governance Analysis) can constitute “an indicator of quality and the level of management, as well as of the possibility to guarantee investors a long-term return.”

The positioning of ERG within these indices depends on the rating level assigned by ECPI (the company that carries out the rating and that has produced the FTSE Italia indices).

Rating	Definition
EEE EEE-	Companies show an innovative long-term strategic position, robust operational management and a proactive contribution towards society and the environment.
EE+ EE EE-	Companies show a transparent long-term strategic position, good operational management and a positive contribution towards society and the environment.
E+ E E-	Companies show a normal long-term strategic position, standard operational management and an average contribution towards society and the environment.
F	Companies show a weak long-term strategic position, poor operational management and an ineffective/negative contribution towards society and the environment.
