Dal Dire al Fare 2011
ERG was sponsor of the seventh edition of the “Dal Dire al Fare" (From Saying to Doing) Corporate Social Responsibility Fair, which took place on 25th and 26th May 2011 at Milan’s Bocconi University (Via Roentgen).
This year ERG has been once again sponsor “Dal Dire al Fare" (From Saying to Doing), the only Italian fair dedicated entirely to Corporate Social Responsibility. The seventh edition of the fair, which was held in Milan on 25 and 26 May 2011, focused on interactivity, in order to encourage (even more so than in previous editions) an exchange between the organisations present and visitors. For the third year running, the location was the prestigious Bocconi University (Via Roentgen).
The structure envisages an exhibition area and a varied cultural programme of in-depth analysis on subjects connected to CSR, meetings and encounters, in order to launch new collaborative efforts.
The themes of the 2011 edition were:
• Sustainable competitiveness and ethical finance
• Social cohesion and economic development
• Developing people
• Environmental sustainability
ERG has chosen to present a project in the context of this final theme: the adoption of the Saline di Priolo Nature Reserve (Syracuse), which was established in 2000 and entrusted for management to the LIPU (Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli, Italian League for Bird Protection). The reserve covers 50 hectares, right in the centre of the Syracuse industrial district, one of the largest oil and energy sites in Europe, and right in the path of migratory birds travelling from Africa to Northern Europe. In cooperation with LIPU, ERG has implemented a series of initiatives to improve the protection and enjoyment of the area.
The most recent of these, carried out in cooperation with ISAB, was the reconstruction of a windmill using historical information on the machines used for the salt marshes. The project fits into a much wider and more complex context which envisages the reclamation of the coast, the Thapsos archaeological area and the Marina di Priolo beach.
During the themed workshop dedicated to Environmental Sustainability held on 25 May, a number of workgroups made up of students from the Bocconi University and coordinated by Prof. Nicola Misani (Department of Management and Technology) illustrated the sustainability policies of the companies present and provided some observations on these. Companies presented their plans on the subject of CSR. The meeting was introduced by Professor Stefano Pogutz (Director of the Master in Green Management, Energy and CSR at the Bocconi University).
The presentation, thanks to the supporting photographic evidence of the landscape, showing the phases of the operational plan, and the presence of birdlife species, aroused the interest of the audience, which was made up of visitors to the Exhibition (operators from the business world, the public administration sector and the tertiary sector) and young university students from the Bocconi.
The afternoon concluded with a round table discussion chaired by the journalist Lorenza Chiarloni.
» Dal Dire al Fare 2010 (From Saying to Doing Fair)
ERG was the main sponsor of the sixth edition of the “Dal Dire al Fare" (From Saying to Doing) Corporate Social Responsibility Fair, which took place on 28th and 29th September at Milan’s Bocconi University (Via Roentgen).

As part of the initiative, the Director of Institutional and International Relations, Lucia Bormida, participated in an opening debate, the central theme of which was “The advantages of acting responsibly”. The debate was attended by the Rector of Bocconi University and by the President of the Lombardy Region and participants included the Managing Director of Henkel, the Public Affairs Manager of Vodafone and the Sales Manager of De Cecco, amongst others.
On the afternoon of 28 September, ERG held a Themed Workshop with the title "Parte del territorio e dalla parte del territorio" (Part of the local area and on the part of the local area).
The Workshop explained the origin of a Social Responsibility initiative that came about locally in the province of Syracuse through the collaboration between ERG and the local health authority (Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale), the RAO (Rete di Assistenza Oncologica, Oncological Health Care Network).
All of the project’s stages were analysed: consultation with local authorities, which, through a constant and structured dialogue, suggest the areas of action considered a priority, shared construction of the project, analysis of economic feasibility, implementation and monitoring. How the project went and its outcome were then illustrated in terms of social repercussions.
Angelo Fallico, ERG Communications Manager in Sicily, and Paolo Tralongo, Operating Unit Manager of the Oncology Department (Direttore Unità Operativa Complessa di Oncologia) of Avola Hospital, were introduced by Professor Elio Borgonovi (Full Professor of Business and Public Sector Economics and Director of the group that coordinates the Bocconi’s CSR initiatives), to explain the project in detail to the university students.MOPAmbiente
The opinions of Italians on the environment and energy.
This year, ERG is once again supporting the “MOPAmbiente” project (Monitoraggio degli Orientamenti e delle Politiche per l’Ambiente, Monitoring of Environmental Trends and Policies) in Italy, an initiative organised by RISL, a company providing institutional relations and legislative studies, in collaboration with Eurisko.
The aim of the initiative, which obtained backing from the Ministry for the Environment and Land Preservation in 2003, is to encourage communication about the environment between institutions, businesses and citizens.
The project considers itself a permanent observatory with several points of view; in addition to monitoring the opinions of Italians with regard to the main topics of environmental importance, through surveys conducted periodically, monitoring of regulations is carried out by RISL with regard to legislative trends in the environmental field.

CSR Manager Network
The CSR Manager Network Italy is a round table, in both the physical and virtual sense (periodical meetings and a dedicated website with an online forum), around which company managers and professionals gather to discuss subjects related to Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Network, promoted by ALTIS (Postgraduate School Business & Society of the Università Cattolica in Milan) and ISVI (Institute for Corporate Values), aspires to:
- encourage continuous and in-depth analysis on CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), thanks to debates between experts through meetings and structured activities
- promote behaviour which complies with the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility within the Italian economic context
- provide a representative body to face the political world, business and union representatives, associations/cooperatives and not-for-profit organisations, which is able to take the lead in the national and international debate
The following are of particular importance for the constant monitoring of the development of CSR in Italy and abroad:
- the annual national Conference, which is also open to external participants
- workshops (at least five per year) which on the other hand are reserved for members only.
ERG has been participating in the meetings of the CSR Manager Network Italy since 2007.
